Dr. David Villasenor is a busy guy... with a growing family and a weekly surfing habit David is able to balance his personal life with his very strong presence in the Combined Program and in the University.  In fact, after matching to the program, his wife soon found a job as a case manager at St. Vincent de Paul where they often work side-by-side.  His capable leadership is evidence by his role as Captain of the combined intramural soccer team.  We won't disclose the team's record, but suffice it to say that it's best that the whole team keep their day jobs!

“I began medical school I knowing I wanted to be a family physician and to treat the underserved. During school I developed an affinity for psychiatry and recognized its presence and importance in primary care. In the end, it became clear that dual training in family medicine and psychiatry would provide a rare yet practical skill set for the population I was interested working with. Now, after two years of residency I can say without hesitation that I am completely satisfied and grateful with my decision. My fellow residents are joy to know and to work with. The faculty is very supportive and engaged. And finally, it has been a true honor to participate in the care with population we serve at Saint Vincent de Paul's Village.

Returning home for residency has been a dream come true. I was born in north San Diego County in a town called Oceanside . Most of my free time is spent with my wife and our two little boys. Every now and then I still have the time for the occasional surf, hike, soccer game or mountain bike ride.”
