Kathryn Hirst, MD
Dr. Hirst earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford, and her medical degree from UC, San Diego. After her recent graduation from the UCSD Combined Program, Dr. Hirst joined the faculty with dual appointments in Family and Preventive Medicine and Psychiatry. She oversees the UCSD Maternal Mental Health Clinic (download brochure below), which she founded as a resident while at UCSD.
"I am originally from Northern California , but after completing undergrad at Stanford and then teaching high school science in Boston for two years, I have decided that San Diego is the place for me. I finished medical school at UCSD in 2004 and am now in my fourth year at the Combined Residency program. I wanted to enter the program as soon as I heard about it during my second year of medical school. This program provides its residents with an outstanding education in both Family Medicine and Psychiatry, and its unique focus on the underserved population creates a wealth of learning opportunities in both fields. The faculty and staff are incredibly supportive, and they have selected a fantastic group of residents that I often consider a second family."
